Doesn't that look just yummy?! I recently visited a friend in Montreal & we stopped by this spot called The Keg Steakhouse & Bar. I ordered the steak, twice baked potato with veggies & mushrooms. I can't remember which cut of steak that was...maybe ribeye? Anyway, it was just as delicious as it looks. In fact, it was so delicious that I decided to make it myself when I got home...

And guess what? I enjoyed MY version of it even better! It was super easy to make. I had a friend over for dinner & he watched me as I shook up the cocktails & cooked the dinner. It came together so quickly. As far as the mushrooms & onions...I chopped up some onions & threw them & some already sliced mushrooms into a pan & sauteed them in a little butter & olive oil until they were done. The steak was super easy too...I went with New York Strip Steak this time around. I seasoned it with salt, pepper & garlic powder. Then I seared it on each side over really high heat in butter & olive oil. After searing it, I placed it under the broiler for about a minute or 2 on each side, took them out, let them rest & they were done. I had never made twice baked potatoes before, so I had to google a little bit of help to make them.

I always enjoy watching Ree Drummond, The Pioneer Woman, on Food Network, so I used her recipe...

Trust me, you'll LOVE this recipe. CLICK HERE to get it from her website. All-in-all, the entire meal was probably the best I've ever made. It was unbelievably delicious. And I'm not just saying it to pat myself on the back, my friend also said that he thought about that meal the entire next week. Make it for yourself, you'll see. Btw, the appetizer salad was my vegetable for the night...

I just cut up some cucumbers & tomatoes, salt & peppered them, then drizzled olive oil & lemon juice over them, stirred & served. We had cocktails with our meal, but you can also pair it with wine. I know that red wine normally goes well with steak, but I'm not a red wine lover. Yes, I know that it's suppose to be good for you in moderation, but no matter how many red wines I try, I just don't like it. So I typically go with white wine. Riesling is my fav. The cocktail we had with the meal is one that a friend & I got from a restaurant years ago. It's equal parts vodka (I like Grey Goose L'Orange, Grey Goose La Poire or Grey Goose Cherry Noir) with equal parts St. Germain liqueur. Shake really well with ice to chill, pour it into a martini glass, then top it off with Prosecco (you can use Champagne or any other sparkling wine). You don't have to top the drink off with sparkling wine, but I like it that way. My friend normally orders the cocktail without the sparkling wine, but she'll have them add grapefruit juice, but I can do without it. Happy eating & cheers!
