With songs so catchy they could be featured in a hip Audi commercial, Matt Hires’ most recent EP, Forever EP, is destined for good things. Hires isn’t new to music; he’s been pumping out feel good tunes since 2008 with his first release, Live From The Hotel Café. His songs have even been featured on TV shows such as Grey’s Anatomy and Cougar Town, and his song “Honey, Let Me Sing You a Song” appeared on the “When In Rome” movie soundtrack. One could even consider him the “King of EPs,” with this being his fourth release with only one full length album in his discography.

The Forever EP may only be four songs long, but it is memorable. Hires is one of those talented artists that can blend emotions with melody so well that it could be on repeat all day and nobody would complain. He sings about a variety of emotions, including love, which is evident in the songs “Restless Heart” and “Sound Of Falling In Love.”

Some songs also feature heavier lyrics, though still remain upbeat. “Signal In The Sky” is a beautiful yet dark duet that is the slowest song of the bunch. The lyrics, like “I’m running for you now so don’t let go // and trees hang low and clouds suffocate the sun so you can see // put a signal in the sky for me,” are just deep enough to make a good song while striking a chord with listeners at the same time.

Fans of Hires’ previous work will be excited to hear what he has to offer with this new EP.  The Forever EP stays true to the folk-pop-rock that has become his signature style and is available for sale or free streaming on Spotify.
